What Temperature Logs does

Built for the way this station works

Wireless sensors

Sensors in chillers and freezers send a reading every five minutes, day and night, including holidays when the kitchen is closed.

Manual logs that take seconds

No sensors yet? Staff enter probe readings on a phone. Each entry is time-stamped and signed by name.

Out-of-range alerts

Readings outside your limits notify the shift lead and manager with a corrective action to complete.

Cooking and reheating

Record core temperatures for cooking and reheating against the targets you set for each dish.

Cooling and hot holding

Track cooling of cooked food over time and hot holding at 63 °C or above, with reminders when checks are due.

Complete history

Every reading, alert and corrective action stays on file and goes straight into your audit pack.

On the kitchen floor

How it runs during a shift

1

Add your units

List chillers, freezers, bain-maries and hot cabinets with their safe ranges.

2

Fit sensors or set rounds

Pair sensors, or schedule manual checks at the times your kitchen needs.

3

Get alerted

When a reading goes out of range, the right person gets a task, not just an alarm.

4

Close the loop

The corrective action and the re-check are recorded against the original reading.

The record

What gets written down, so you never have to

Every entry is time-stamped and linked to a person or a sensor. Records cannot be edited after sign-off without leaving a trail, and they flow straight into your Audit Ready pack.

Questions

About Temperature Logs

Do we need sensors?

Sensors help, especially for overnight and weekend monitoring, but manual logs work well too. Many kitchens start with manual checks and add sensors to their most important units later.

What happens if the Wi-Fi drops?

Sensors store readings locally and upload them when the connection returns, so there are no gaps in the log.

Can we use our own probe thermometers?

Yes. Any calibrated probe works for manual entries. You can also record probe calibration checks in Gutdgest.
